Methodology
- Collection
- This register is fed by Africa Tech's on-air reporting — weekly interviews with public-agency officials, founders and researchers — and completed with public sources (specialised press, official statements, space-agency and regulator publications).
- Inclusion criterion
- An initiative is added only once it carries at least one verifiable, dated source. Without a source, it does not enter the register — each row's “Sources” column links back to those original documents.
- Statuses
- Announced — made public, no documented implementation yet.
- In progress — work or rollout under way, not yet completed.
- Operational — in service, with a source documenting its start.
- Suspended — announced or under way, then halted or delayed with no known new date.
- Updates
- Manual revision, as reporting and reports come in. Last revised: 1 September 2026. There is, at this stage, no fixed review schedule — an acknowledged limitation of the register rather than an editorial choice.
